BIOGRAPHY

Paolo Garella was born
in Bra, Italy in 1959.
He is married to Ivana
and has two children:
Riccardo and Chiara.
He graduated in
Mechanical Engineering
from the Polytechnic University
in Torino, Italy in 1983.
He started his career as Testing Engineer by Goodyear International Technical Center in Luxembourg, becoming soon involved in advanced testing and vehicle dynamic projects that reached a peak with the construction of the Mireval wet-handling circuit.
He returned then to Turin and worked for 3 years with PTI-Albatech where he was initially appointed as Technical Responsible to the Alba Group C Motor Racing and further involved in a series of advanced innovative hybrid and electric vehicle projects.
He was recruited by Pininfarina in 1992 to manage the Prototype Engineering and Manufacturing Department. In 1997 he became Program Manager to the Engineering development of the Jaguar X-Type Estate Project. Two years after, Andrea Pininfarina assigned him the lead of the company’s task force charged for the re-organization of the Pininfarina Group Engineering Services.
After successfully completing this task, in 2002 he was assigned the set up and development of "Pininfarina Special Projects", the company’s division dedicated to the Design, Engineering Development and Manufacturing of high-end cars and to the international Industrial Strategic consultancy.
Under his 7-years guidance, Pininfarina Special Projects reaffirmed the company leadership in the domain of exclusive tailor-made cars, by completing five major luxury one-off projects:
  • "Ferrari P4/5 by Pininfarina"
    for the American collector James Glickenhaus
  • "Ferrari 612 Kappa by Pininfarina"
    for the American tycoon Peter Kalikow
  • "Dino Competizione Restoration Program"
    for the American collector James Glickenhaus
  • "Hyperion"
    for the British Gentleman Roland Hall
  • "New Stratos"
    for the German Entrepreneur Michael Stoschek and his son Maximilian.
During his career in Pininfarina, he managed as well a strategic consultancy for the start up of Engineering and Research Centers in Portugal and Jordan.
In 2009, he decided to become a freelance and successfully managed the completion of the "New Stratos" Project as Advisor to Brose GmbH, a German Multinational Automotive Company to which today he is still a Consultant.
Since 2010 he has been also collaborating as Automotive Consultant to CEIIA (Centre for Excellence and Innovation in the Automotive Industry) and as Program Manager for Momo Corporation LLC to the "Momo Mirage Project".
He is currently the Program Manager for Scuderia Cameron-Glickenhaus to the "P4/5 Competizione" racing program and to other advanced automotive projects in progress.
